You no longer have to be a professional travel writer to share your insights with the public. Free blogging software makes it easy for anyone to publish his or her thoughts. (Learn DIY blogging tips by clicking here.) In our own This Just In blog, we periodically highlight great travel posts by other bloggers, such as this aspiring gourmand's tale of trying whiskey berbère in Morocco and one young British man's thoughts on the Central American chicken bus. We're also in the last stages of our readers' Blog-Off writing contest. You'll learn where to find good cheap eats overseas, how to get a spa treatment for under $100, what it's like to find the world's best beer, and why you should visit Vietnam, when you read the four semifinalist entries—comment on your favorite to help determine the winner! read more
On June 1, Delta Air Lines will become the first U.S. carrier to give passengers the option of doing something to counterbalance the global-warming effects of flying. Every time someone buys a flight, he or she will be given the option of donating an additional $5.50 per domestic round trip as a "carbon offset." The money goes directly to The Conservation Fund, which plants trees to offset carbon emissions from flights. Should such a donation be mandatory and automatic? Vote in our poll!
